    Let \(\mathbb B_n\) be the unit ball in \(\mathbb C^n\). For any analytic function \(f\) on \(\mathbb B_n\), the gradient of \(f\) is given by the following: \[ \nabla f(z)=\Big(\frac{\partial f}{\partial z_1}, \frac{\partial f}{\partial z_2}, \cdots, \frac{\partial f}{\partial z_n}\Big). \] Let \(0<\alpha<\infty\). The Bloch-type space, or \(\alpha\)-Bloch space, denoted by \(\mathcal B^\alpha\), is the space of all analytic functions \(f\) on \(\mathbb B_n\) satisfying \[ \| f\| _{\mathcal B^\alpha}=\sup_{z\in \mathbb B_n} (1-| z| ^2)^\alpha | \nabla f(z)| <\infty. \] As a main result of this paper, the author proves the following theorem: Let \(0<\alpha\leq 2\). Let \(\lambda\) be any real number satisfying the following properties: (1) \(0\leq \lambda\leq \alpha\) if \(0<\alpha <1\); (2) \(0<\lambda <1\) if \(\alpha=1\); (3) \(\alpha-1\leq \lambda\leq 1\) if \(1<\alpha<2\). Then an analytic function \(f\) on \(\mathbb B_n\) is in \(\mathcal B^\alpha\) if and only if \[ S_\lambda(f)=\sup_{z,w\in \mathbb B_n, z\neq w}(1-| z| ^2)^\lambda (1-| w| ^2)^{\alpha-\lambda} \frac{| f(z)-f(w)| }{| z-w| }<\infty. \] Moreover, for any \(\alpha\) and \(\lambda\) satisfying the above conditions the two seminorms \(\|f\|_{B^\alpha}\) and \(S_\lambda(f)\) are equivalent. When \(\alpha=1\) and \(\lambda=1/2\), the theorem was given by \textit{F. Holland} and \textit{D. Walsh} [Math. Ann. 273, 317--335 (1986; Zbl 0561.30025)] for the unit disk.
