The author considers an impulsive differential equation of the type \[ \begin{gathered} x'(t)= f(x),\quad t\neq \tau_k(x),\quad t\in \mathbb R^+,\\ \Delta_k x(t)= I_k[x(t)],\quad t=\tau_k[x(t)],\quad k\geq 1,\end{gathered}\tag{1} \] where \(x: \mathbb R^+\to \mathbb R\), \(f\in C(\mathbb R,\mathbb R)\), \(\Delta_k x(t)= x(t_k+ 0)- x(t_k)\), \(\tau_k\in C^1(\mathbb R,\mathbb R)\), \(\tau_k\) is bounded for \(k\geq 1\) and \[ 0<\tau_1(x)<\cdots< \tau_k(x)<\cdots,\quad k= 1,2,3,\dots \] and \(\tau_k(x)\to\infty\) as \(k\to\infty\) uniformly w.r.t. \(x\in \mathbb R\). Necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of a nontrivial periodic solution of (1) and its stability are derived.
