This paper deals with the semigroup properties and the Crandall-Ligget approximation associated with a class of differential equations with delays depending implicity on the state \[ x'(t)= f(x(t)-\tau (t)),\quad \tau '(t)=h(x(t),\tau (t))\text{ for }t\geq 0, \] \[ (x_0,\tau (0)) \in C^{0,1}([-\tau_0,0];\mathbb R) \times ([\tau_0,\tau_1), \quad 0<\tau_0<\tau_1, \] where \(f\) and \(h\) are functions from \(\mathbb R\) and \(\mathbb R \times \mathbb R\) into \(\mathbb R\) and \(C^{0,1}\) is the Banach space of Lipschitz continuous functions from \([-\tau_0,0]\) to \(\mathbb R\). The existence of a strongly continuous nonlinear semigroups associated with the solutions of the equation is proved. The continuous dependence, the compactness, the existence of infinitesimal generators and the approximation of Crandall-Liggett type has been established.
