This paper investigate the magnetohydrodynamic flow and heat transfer characteristic of a fluid in the presence of a uniformly applied magnetic field. The boundary layer flow of a third-order fluid is induced by linear stretching of a non-conducting sheet (in real life the non-conducting sheet is embedded in the fluid for reasons such as cooling etc. recalled in the introduction of the paper). The authors carry on the analysis of heat transfer in the case of prescribed surface temperature and in the case of prescribed surface heat flux. Once that the governing non-linear differential equations are written (explicitly and this takes two columns of equations) the authors carry on some simplifications and then use the homotopy analysis method to solve them. Numerical computations are also carried out for the solutions and for relevant physical parameters.
