The notion of prime submodule was introduced and systematically studied by \textit{J. Dauns} [J. Reine Angew. Math. 298, 156-181 (1978; Zbl 0365.16002)]. Also, the notion of weakly prime submodules was studied by \textit{M. Behboodi} and \textit{H. Koohy} [Vietnam J. Math. 32, No. 2, 185-195 (2004; Zbl 1077.16009)]. In this paper, the author studies the notion weakly prime radical of modules and some relations between weakly prime submodules, prime submodules and semiprime submodules. He shows that if \(R\) is an Ore domain, then the study of the weakly prime radical of general \(R\)-modules \(M\) reduces to that of torsion \(R\)-modules. Moreover, if \(R\) is a commutative Noetherian domain with Krull dimension \(\dim(R)=1\), then this problem for a general \(R\)-module \(M\) reduces to that of a finitely generated torsion \(R\)-module. Later, the author proves that if \(R\) is a commutative domain with \(\dim(R)\leq 1\), then every semiprime submodule of any \(R\)-module \(M\) is an intersection of weakly prime submodules. It is shown that the localization of a module over a commutative ring preserves the weakly prime property. Finally, there are defined the notions of semi-compatible module and semi-compatible ring. An \(R\)-module \(M\) is called semi-compatible if every weakly prime submodule of \(M\) is an intersection of prime submodules of \(M\). Then, the ring \(R\) is said to be semi-compatible if every \(R\)-module \(M\) is semi-compatible. If \(R\) is a commutative Noetherian ring, then it is shown that \(R\) is semi-compatible if and only if for every prime ideal \(P\) of \(R\) the ring \(R/P\) is a Dedekind domain. -- The paper contains also some other interesting results.
