This article continues a series of papers concerning stability of homogeneous steady states in reaction-diffusion systems posed in bounded domains with two components, and relaxes a requirement used in his previous work [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 319, No. 2, 377--397 (2006; Zbl 1099.35041)]. For a smooth bounded domain in three-space, the author uses a certain Lyapunov functional to essentially prove that linear stability implies nonlinear stability in \(L^2\), and also gives a criterion for linear instability.
