In the course of oil transport through undersea pipelines in which low temperatures may be encountered, wax crystals can separate from solution and deposit on the pipe walls. This may occur in varying ways, depending on particular circumstances. The authors have modeled the problem in earlier works under varying hypotheses, and developed methods for quantitative prediction. In the present work, they continue the study under substantively new conditions. For several particular cases, they formulate (one-dimensional) equations to model the behavior, and study the well-posedness of the problems in a formal mathematical context.
