A new class of Zienkiewicz-type non-conforming element in any dimensions (Q879928)

A new class of Zienkiewicz-type non-conforming finite element (NZT) in \(n\)-spatial dimensions with \(n\) greater or equal 2, is proposed. This element is used for fourth order elliptic boundary values problems. This new element is motivated by the theoretical interest and the efficiency consideration in practical computation. This new element uses the same degrees of freedom with the Zienkiewicz element and the different shape function space. The NZT element is convergent and passes the patch test in general grids.
