A manifold \(M^n\) with a torsion-free connection \(\nabla\) is said to be locally projectively homogeneous if for any \(p\in M\) there exist at least \(n\) independent projective Killing vector fields. For any locally projectively homogeneous affine manifold of dimension \(n= 2\), the full Lie algebra of projective Killing vector fields is well known up to isomorphisms. The authors classify locally all projectively homogeneous affine torsion-free connections on 2-dimensional connected manifolds, from a group-theoretical point of view. They start with the classification of all transitive Lie algebras of vector fields on \(\mathbb R^2\) given by \textit{P. J. Olver} [Equivalence, invariants and symmetry, Cambridge University Press (1995; Zbl 0837.58001)], and look for all affine connections having such algebras as an algebra of projective Killing vector fields. They give an explicit simple expression for the locally projectively homogeneous affine torsion-free connections which are not projectively flat and characterize the projectively flat ones as those admitting a primitive algebra of Killing vector fields. Finally, a locally projectively homogeneous, not projectively flat, affine connection \(\nabla\) locally admits a projectively equivalent affine connection \(\overline\nabla\) such that the full projective and the full affine Killing algebra coincide.
