The article deals with the degree theory and some of its applications for mappings of the type \(u \mapsto - Au + F(u)\), defined on a neighborhood retract in a Banach space \(E\) and taking values in \(E\). It is assumed that \(A: D(A) \multimap E\) is an \(m\)-accretive operator such that \((I + \lambda A)^{-1}M \subset M\) for any \(\lambda > 0\), that the semigroup \(\{S_A(t): \overline{D(A)} \to \overline{D(A)}\}_{t \geq 0}\) generated by \(A\) is compact, and that \(F: M \to E\) is a continuous local Lipschitz map of sublinear growth and tangent to \(M\) (\(F(x) \in T_M(x)\) for any \(x \in M\)). The degree \(\deg_M(-A+F,U)\) of \(- A + F\) on the boundary \(\partial U\) of an open and bounded set is defined as the fixed point index, for sufficiently small \(t\), of \(\Phi_t\) on \(\partial_MU\), where the semiflow \(\{\Phi_t:M \cap \overline{D(A)} \to M \cap \overline{D(A)}\}_{t \geq 0}\) is generated by \(\dot u \in - Au + F(u)\). This degree has standard properties (existence, additivity, homotopy invariance, normalization) and thus allows to study fixed points of mappings \(-A + F\) in \(U\), in particular, to prove the standard theorems about bifurcation points. As application, the existence and branching problem is considered for periodic solutions of the differential inclusion \[ \dot u \in-\lambda Au+\lambda F(t,u),\quad u(t) \in M, \] with a parameter \(\lambda > 0\).
