A (Jensen-type) pointwise convexity inequality of the form \(F (Tf) \leq T [F (f)]\) is proved for a convex function defined on a convex subset of some Banach space \(X\), where \(T\) is the \(X\)-valued extension of a positive operator on some function space. Examples include the pointwise Hölder inequality \(T (fg) \leq (Tf^p)^{1/p} (Tg^q)^{1/q})\) and the Minkowski inequality \((T (f+q)^p)^{1/p} \leq (Tf^p)^{1/p} + (Tg^p)^{1/p}\) for a positive sublinear operator \(T\). As applications, vector-valued conditional expectation operators are considered and a proof of the Riesz--Thorin interpolation theorem for positive operators is given. The paper also contains a short appendix on closed convex sets in Banach spaces.
