For the initial value problem \(i\varepsilon\partial_tu^\varepsilon+\frac{\varepsilon^2}{2}\Delta u^\varepsilon=V(t,x)u^\varepsilon+\varepsilon^kf(| u^\varepsilon| ^2)u^\varepsilon\), \(x\in \mathbb{R}^n\), \(k\geq 0\), \(u^\varepsilon=a_0^\varepsilon(x)\exp (i\varphi_0(x)/\varepsilon)\) using WKB methods the asymptotic behaviour of \(u^\varepsilon\) is described when the potential \(V\) and the initial phase \(\varphi_0\) are smooth and subquadratic in the spatial variable. The subscritical, critical and supercritical cases are considered on the base of WKB analysis and also of geometrical optics method. In particular for the supercritical case the results of [\textit{E. Grenier}, Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 126, No. 2, 523--530 (1998; Zbl 0910.35115)] are extended under the restriction to defocusing, cubic at the origin nonlinearity, where besides subquadratic potentials the initial phases may be unbounded.
