This paper considers the unsteady Couette flow of viscous incompressible fluid between two horizontal porous flat plates. The stationary plate is subjected to a periodic suction, and the moving plate is subjected to a uniform injection. The energy equation has been also considered taking viscous dissipation into account. The basic partial differential equations with proposed boundary conditions are first transformed into non-dimensional form, and then they are solved analytically using a series method. The expansion parameter is the amplitude of suction velocity \(\varepsilon\;(\ll 1)\). Approximate solutions have been obtained for velocity and temperature fields, skin friction and Nusselt number. Results are presented in nine figures and three tables for some values of suction/injection parameter \(S\), Prandtl number \(Pr\), Reynolds number \(Re\), frequency parameter \(\omega\) and time \(t\). The results are discussed in details. It is found that the main flow velocity decreases with increase in frequency parameter. It is also shown that the amplitude of shear stress due to main flow decreases while that due to cross-flow increases with increase in frequency parameter.
