Let \(X\) be a Banach space, let \(p\) between 1 and \(\infty\), and let as usual \(p'\) denote the conjugate exponent to \(p\). The \(\mu\)-measurable function \(f:\Omega\to X\) is called strongly \(p\)-integrable if, for each \(w^\ast\) \(p'\)-integrable function \(g:\Omega\to X^*\), the scalar function \(t\rightarrow (f(t),g(t))\) is 1-integrable. The space of strongly \(p\)-integrable functions into \(X\) is normed (informally written) by \(\| f\| =\sup_{\| g\| \leq 1} \| (f(t),g(t))\| _1\). The space of strongly \(p\)-integrable functions is shown be a Banach space which is a subset of \(L_p(\mu,X)\) such that the embedding has norm \(\leq 1\). For \(p=1\) there is no difference. The following result is proved with no restrictions on \(X\): The space of strongly \(p'\)-integrable functions into \(X\) is isometrically isomorphic to the space of integral operators from \(L_p\) into \(X\).
