    Let \(D, X\) be two Banach spaces such that \(D \hookrightarrow X\) and let \(A: [0, \tau] \to {\mathcal L}(X)\) be a strongly measurable and bounded operator. The authors consider the problem \[ {\dot u} + A(t)u =f, \;\text{ a.e. on } (0, \tau), \quad u(0)=x. \tag{P} \] If \(A(t)\) has maximal regularity for all \(t \in [0, \tau]\), they prove that under certain hypotheses this problem is well posed in \(L^p\). Conversely, if the operators \(A(t)\) are accretive, the authors deduce that well-posedness of (P) implies that \(A(t)\) has maximal regularity for all \(t \in [0, \tau]\). In what follows, the following second order Cauchy problem \[ {\ddot u} + B(t) {\dot u} + A(t) u = f, \;\text{ a.e. on } (0, \tau), \quad u(0)=x, \quad {\dot u}(0)=y \] is considered. The authors deduce regularity results and analyze several interesting perturbation situations.
