The authors study the Cauchy problem for the nonlinear heat equation \(u_t-\Delta u = \pm | u| ^b u\), \(u(0,x)=\varphi(x)\), with initial datum \(\varphi\) belonging to homogeneous Besov space \(\dot{B}^s_{p,r}({\mathbb R}^n)\), where \(s=\frac n p - \frac 2 b < 0\), \(b\geq 1\) and \(1\leq r\leq \infty\). It is proved that if \(1<\frac{nb}{2}<p<\frac{nb}{2}(b+1)\) and \(\| \varphi| \dot{B}^s_{p,r}({\mathbb R}^n)\| \leq \varepsilon\) for some sufficiently small \(\varepsilon>0\) then the Cauchy problem has a unique time global solution. If \(r=\infty\) the result leads to existence of global self-similar solutions for the suitable initial data. The method used in the paper can be applied to study the well-posedness of solutions for Cauchy problem for the convection-diffusion equation.
