The authors continue the investigations, begun in some of their previous contributions like [\textit{R. Bastos} and the authors, Int. J. Algebra Comput. 23, No. 1, 81-89 (2013; Zbl 1277.20039)]. In the present paper, they discuss the role of the assumption of being an orderable group among Engel groups. Following the classical terminology for the varieties of groups, Theorem 1.1 shows that an orderable group \(G\), in which all \(w\)-values are \(n\)-Engel, has the verbal subgroup \(v(G)\) locally nilpotent. Theorem 1.2 shows that an orderable group \(G\) is nilpotent, provided \(x^m\) is \(n\)-Engel for all \(x\in G\).
