The paper under review considers three aspects of the problem to classify the groups \(G\) which have the property that for any automorphism of \(G\) the cardinality of the Reidemeister classes is infinite. In the first aspect the authors identify the Reidemeister classes with the first nonabelian cohomology group of certain groups. The second aspect consists in relating the isogredience classes with the Reidemeister classes. They show: Theorem 3.4: Suppose \(|Z(G)|<\infty\). Then \(G\) is an \(R_\infty\)-group if and only if \(G\) is an \(S_\infty\)-group. -- A group is an \(S_\infty\)-group if for any \(\Phi\in\mathrm{Out}(G)\) the set \(S(\Phi)\) is infinite. The last aspect is a relation between representations of the group \(G\) fixed by the dual \(\widehat\phi\) of an automorphism \(\phi\) and the \(R_\infty\)-property of \(\phi\). The main result is: Theorem 4.4: Let \(G\) be a finitely generated group and \(\phi\) an automorphism for which at least one of the following two conditions holds: (1) There exist infinitely many finite-dimensional representation classes in \(\widehat G\) fixed by \(\widehat\phi\). (2) There exists an infinite representation \(\rho\) of \(G\) fixed by \(\widehat\phi\). Then \(R(\phi)=\infty\). -- In particular, if we have one of these conditions for every automorphism \(\phi\), then \(G\) has the \(R_\infty\)-property.
