      Let \(\Omega \subset R^n\) be a domain with boundary of class \(C^{1,1}\). Suppose that \(p\in L^\infty (\Omega )\) and \(\inf p(x)>1\). Suppose that there exists a constant \(M\) such that \(|p(x)-p(y)|\leq M/\log (1/|x-y|)\) for all \(x,y\in \Omega \) with \(|x-y|\leq 1/2\). Let \(Lu=\sum_{i,j=1}^n \partial_i (a_{ij}\partial_j u)\) be an uniformly elliptic operator in \(\Omega \), where \(a_{ij}\in L^\infty (\Omega )\). Under certain conditions on \(a_{ij}\) the following result is proved: If \(f\in L^{p(\cdot )}(\Omega )\) then there exists a unique solution \(u\in W^{2,p(\cdot )}(\Omega )\) of the problem \(Lu=f\) in \(\Omega \), \(u=0\) on \(\partial \Omega \). Moreover, \(\| u\|_{W^{2,p(\cdot )}(\Omega )}\leq C \| f\|_{L^{p(\cdot )}(\Omega )}\).
