    Let \((M,g)\) be a smooth compact Riemanian manifold of dimension \(d \geq 3\). Let \(\Delta_g\) be the non negative Laplace-Beltrami operator and consider eigenfunctions \(e_\lambda\) satisfying \(\Delta_g e_\lambda = \lambda^2 e_\lambda\) with \(\lambda \geq 0\). We shall denote by \(\Pi\) the space of unit-length geodesics. If \(\frac{2(d+2)}{d} <q< \frac{2(d+1)}{d-1}\) we shall set \(\sigma(d,q) = q\big(\frac{d-1}{2}\big)\big(1/2 - \frac{1}{q}\big)\). Then the main result of this paper is the following: There exists a uniform constant \(C>0\) such that given \(\epsilon>0\) one can find \(C_\epsilon>0\) such that \[ \begin{aligned} \| e_\lambda \|^q_{L^2(M)} \leq \epsilon \lambda^{\sigma(d,q)} \| e_\lambda \|^q_{L^2(M)} &+ C\| e_\lambda \|^q_{L^2(M)}\\ &+ C_\epsilon \lambda^{\sigma(d,q)} \| e_\lambda \|^2_{L^2(M)} \sup _{\gamma \in \Pi}\Big( \int_{\mathcal{T}_{\lambda^{-1/2}}(\gamma)} | e_\lambda(z)|^2\, dz\Big)^{\frac{q-2}{2}} \end{aligned} \] where \[ {\mathcal{T}_{\lambda^{-1/2}}(\gamma)} = \{x\in M: d_g(x,\gamma) \leq \lambda^{-1/2}\}. \] This result has been already proved by the second author when \(d=3\). As a corollary the authors prove that for any subsequence \((e_{\lambda_{j_k}})\) of \(L^2\) -normalized eigenfunctions the following statements are equivalent \[ \begin{aligned} &1.\quad \limsup_{\substack{ k\to + \infty}} \Big( \sup _{\gamma \in \Pi} \int_{\mathcal{T}_{{\lambda_{j_k}}^{-1/2}}(\gamma)} | e_{\lambda_{j_k}}(z)|^2\, dz\Big) =0\, ,\\ & 2. \quad \limsup _{k\to + \infty} \lambda_{j_k}^{-\frac{d-1}{2}(1/2 -\frac{1}{p})}\| e_{\lambda_{j_k}} \|_{L^p(M)} =0\, , \quad \text{for any } 2<p<\frac{2(d+1)}{d-1}. \end{aligned} \] In the case when \((M,g)\) has everywhere non positive sectionnal curvature and \(d \geq 2\), the authors prove that for the full sequence of eigenvalues \(0= \lambda_0 < \lambda_1 \leq \lambda_2 \leq \ldots\) one has \[ \limsup_{\substack{ \lambda_j\to + \infty}} \Big( \sup _{\gamma \in \Pi} \int_{\mathcal{T}_{\lambda_j^{-1/2}}(\gamma)} | e_{\lambda_{j}}(z)|^2\, dz\Big) =0 \, , \] extending a previous result by the second author and \textit{S. Zelditch} [in: Advances in analysis. The legacy of Elias M. Stein. Proceedings of the conference ``Analysis and applications'' held in honor of the 80th birthday of Elias M. Stein, Princeton, NJ, USA, May 16--20, 2011. Princeton, NJ: Princeton University Press. 447--461 (2014; Zbl 1307.58013)] when \(d=2\).
