      Let \(m,d\in\mathbb{Z}_{+}\), \(\alpha,\beta,c,C>0\), \(p\in]d,\infty[\), \(\Omega\) a nonempty bounded open subset of \({\mathbb R}^{d}\) with Lipschitz boundary, \(a\in L_{\mathrm{loc}}^{1}({\mathbb R}^{d},]0,\infty[)\) \(1\)-periodic, \(G:{\mathbb R}^{m\times d}\rightarrow[0,\infty]\) a Borel function such that \(0\in\mathrm{int}(\mathrm{dom}(G))\), \(G(t\xi+(1-t)\zeta)\leq C(1+G(\xi)+G(\zeta))\) for every \(t\in]0,1[\) and \(\xi,\zeta\in{\mathbb R}^{m\times d}\), and \(G(\xi)=\inf\{\int_{]0,1[^{d}}G(\xi+\nabla\varphi(x))\,\mathrm{d}x:\,\varphi\in W_{0}^{1,p}(]0,1[^{d},{\mathbb R}^{m})\}\). Let further \(W:{\mathbb R}^{d}\times{\mathbb R}^{m\times d}\rightarrow[0,\infty]\) be a Borel function which is \(1\)-periodic with respect to the first variable such that \(\alpha G(\xi)\leq W(x,\xi)\leq\beta(1+G(\xi))\) and \(c|\xi|^{p}\leq W(x,\xi)\) for every \((x,\xi)\in{\mathbb R}^{d}\times{\mathbb R}^{m\times d}\), and \({\limsup}_{t\rightarrow1^{-}}\,{\sup}_{x\in U}\,{\sup}_{\xi\in\mathrm{dom}(W(x,.))}{{W(x,t\xi)-W(x,\xi)}\over{a(x)+W(x,\xi)}}\leq0\). For every \(\varepsilon>0\) let \(I_{\varepsilon}: W^{1,p}(\Omega,{\mathbb R}^{m})\rightarrow[0,\infty]\), \(I_{\varepsilon(u)}=\int_{\Omega}W({{x}\over{\varepsilon}},\nabla u(x))\,\mathrm{d}x\). The authors prove the following Theorem: \(I_{\varepsilon}\) \(\Gamma\)-converges with respect to the strong topology of \(L^{p}(\Omega,{\mathbb R}^{m})\) as \(\varepsilon\rightarrow0^{+}\) to \(I_{0}: W^{1,p}(\Omega,{\mathbb R}^{m})\rightarrow[0,\infty]\), \(I_{0}(u)=\int_{\Omega}\hat{HW}(\nabla u(x))\,\mathrm{d}x\), where \(\hat{HW}(\xi)={\lim}_{t\rightarrow1^{-}}{\inf}_{k\in{\mathbb Z}_{+}}\inf\{({1/k^d})\int_{k]0,1[^{d}}W(x,\,t\xi+\nabla\varphi(x))\,\mathrm{d}x:\,\varphi\in W_{0}^{1,p}(k]0,1[^{d},{\mathbb R}^{m})\}\) if \(\xi\in\mathrm{cl}(\mathrm{dom}(G))\), \(\hat{HW}(\xi)=\infty\) if \(\xi\notin\mathrm{cl}(\mathrm{dom}(G))\). Also, the authors give an example of an application of the theorem which is compatible with conditions of hyperelasticity when \(d=m=2\).
