This book addresses essentially the engineers (or researchers and students interested in the area of event-trigged systems). The subject turns around event-based estimation problems in a stochastic setting. This document is self-contained and it is readable with just a basic knowledge of probability theory, Kalman filtering theory, and linear algebra. The introduction chapter gives some elements of sample-data systems, event-based sampling, and event-based estimation as well as a review of the recent developments in these topics. Chapter 2 introduces event-triggered sampling. Next, the main chapters of this book present different approaches for solving problems of event-based estimation: approximate Gaussian approach, constrained optimization approach, stochastic event-trigged approach and set-valued filtering approach. Numerical and practical applications are proposed in each chapter. Open problems are proposed in the last chapter. Some mathematical tools are recalled in appendices. This book is clear and well written. The results presented are proven, and each chapter contains notes and references.
