Chart descriptions were introduced by the second author [J. Knot Theory Ramifications 1, No. 2, 137--160 (1992; Zbl 0763.57013)], in order to describe 2-dimensional braids. Then a chart description for genus-one Lefschetz fibrations was introduced by the same author in collaboration with Y. Matsumoto, T. Matumoto and K. Waki [\textit{S. Kamada} et al., J. Math. Soc. Japan 57, No. 2, 537--555 (2005; Zbl 1080.57022)]. And again, the second author generalized the previous results to a method describing any monodromy representation [Topology Appl. 154, No. 7, 1430--1446 (2007; Zbl 1123.57004)] and investigated genus-two Lefschetz fibrations as an application [Topology Appl. 159, No. 4, 1041--1051 (2012; Zbl 1239.57039)]. In the present paper the authors introduce a chart description for hyperelliptic Lefschetz fibrations, and show that any hyperelliptic Lefschetz fibration can be stabilized by fiber-sum with certain basic Lefschetz fibrations.
