A boundary value problem for singularly perturbed second order differential-delay equation on the interval $[0,2]$, with constant delay, is solved by an iterative numerical method based of finite differences and on finite element technique. For such problem, the maximum principle and a stability result are established. The authors prove the existence and uniqueness of the solution. They present an iterative procedure to approximate the solution and show the uniform convergence of the iterative sequence to the solution. Using Shishkin type and Bakhvalov-Shishkin type mesh, first order and second order finite difference schemes are proposed. The authors obtain corresponding error estimates. Moreover, the authors construct a finite element method and provide the error estimate for Shishkin and Bakhvalov-Shishkin type meshes. The accuracy and the convergence of the presented methods are illustrated on two numerical experiments.
