The author considers a compact connected almost-complex manifold and Killing vector field on it. The main goal of the paper (Theorem 2.2 and Corollary 2.3) is to show how the sum of eigenvalues of the vector field behaves in the case when connected components of the zero point set of this vector field do not consist of isolated points which generalize a number of very well-known results. The main idea of the proof uses the rigidity property of Hirzebruch \(\chi_y\)-genus in a similar way as it was done in [the author, Math. Res. Lett. 20, No. 1, 81--89 (2013; Zbl 1281.32020)]. Next, these results are applied to the Atiyah-Bott-Singer localization formula and Bott's residue formula (Propositions 3.3 and 3.8).
