The author introduces higher-dimensional analogues of \(C^*\)-symbolic dynamical systems, the so-called \(C^*\)-textile dynamical systems, constisting of two families of endomorphisms of a given \(C^*\)-algebra satistying certain commutation relations. A \(C^*\)-algebra is attached to such a system and its properties are studied. This class of algebras can be realised as Cuntz-Pimsner algebras and are generalisations of Cuntz-Krieger algebras. One of the main results establishes a uniqueness theorem which shows that the algebras in question can be described by any concrete \(C^*\)-algebra satisfying a prescribed set of relations. In particular, a simplicity result is obtained in terms of the irreducibility of the system. The second main result provides certain short exact sequences that can be used to describe the \(K\)-theory of the \(C^*\)-algebras associated to \(C^*\)-textile dynamical systems.
