Special birational transformations of projective spaces (Q904026)

The authors examine birational transformations of the complex projective space \(\mathbb{P}^r\) onto a prime Fano manifold whose base locus \(X \subset \mathbb{P}^r\) is smooth irreducible and reduced. They obtain in an explicit form all 8 types of such transformations in the case \(\dim X =1\) and all 13 types in the case \(\dim X =2\). They also describe all 7 types of birational transformations of \(\mathbb{P}^5\) with smooth irreducible and reduced base locus of dimension 3 onto a prime Fano manifold and all 18 types of birational transformations of \(\mathbb{P}^r\) with smooth irreducible and reduced base locus of codimension 2 onto a prime Fano manifold.
