The authors investigate an extension of the Yau-Tian-Donaldson conjecture for Kähler-Ricci solitons over a Fano manifold. Let us recall that the Yau-Tian-Donaldson conjecture asserts that the existence of a Kähler metric with constant scalar curvature is equivalent to the \(K\)-polystability of the polarized manifold and that this conjecture holds for the particular case of Kähler-Einstein metrics and the anticanonical class (i.e., on Fano manifolds). In this paper, the authors define an adapted version of the \(K\)-stability for the soliton equation over Fano manifolds, using equivariant Riemann-Roch theorem on a multi-anticanonical line bundle over a \(\mathbb{Q}\)-Fano variety. This leads them to introduce a modified Futaki invariant. For special degenerations (i.e., test configurations that have normal variety as central fibre), this modified Futaki invariant has already appeared in the literature. The authors prove that any toric Fano manifold is ``modified \(K\)-stable'' for any toric degenerations. Furthermore, by adapting earlier work of \textit{B. Zhou} and \textit{X. Zhu} [Adv. Math. 219, No. 4, 1327--1362 (2008; Zbl 1153.53030)], they show that the modified K-energy is proper for toric invariant Kähler potentials modulo toric action. Since in the toric case, the properness of the modified K-energy implies the existence of a Kähler-Ricci soliton, their result implies the existence of such a soliton on any toric Fano manifold (a result originally proved by \textit{X-J. Wang} and \textit{X. Zhu} [Adv. Math. 188, 87--103, (2004; Zbl 1086.53067)]. One should stress that similar results were also derived independentely by \textit{R. J. Berman} and \textit{B. Berndtsson} [Ann. Fac. Sci. Toulouse, Math. (6) 22, No. 4, 649--711 (2013; Zbl 1283.58013)]. Consequently, the modified version of the Yau-Tian-Donaldson conjecture adapted to the soliton equation that propose the authors, holds for toric Fano smooth manifolds. The authors also study the existence of conical Kähler-Ricci solitons on toric Fano manifolds by showing the properness of modified Log K-energy. More precisely, they obtain the following. Let \(X\) be a soliton vector field on a toric Fano manifold \(M\). Then for any \(\beta \leq 1\) there exists a unique toric invariant conical Kähler-Ricci soliton which has conical angle \(2\pi \beta\) along each face divisor \(D_i\) of \(M\). This is also related to the recent work of \textit{V. Datar} et al. on the subject [``Connecting toric manifolds by conical Kahler-Einstein metrics'', Preprint, \url{arXiv:1308.6781}].
