Let \(R\) be the algebra of \(\mathrm{SL}_2(\mathbb{C})\)-covariants of binary forms of degree \(d\); that is, \(R\) is the algebra of \(\mathrm{SL}_2\)-invariants on \(V_1\oplus V_d\), where \(V_k\) stands for the \(\mathrm{SL}_2\)-module of binary forms of degree \(k\). The Hilbert-Poincaré series \({\mathcal{P}}(R,z)\) of the graded algebra \(R\) has a Laurent series expansion \({\mathcal{P}}(R,z)=\frac{\deg(R)}{(1-z)^d}+\frac{\psi(R)}{(1-z)^{d-1}}+\cdots\). The authors calculate the degree \(\deg(R)\) and \(\psi(R)\), and determine an integral representation and the asymptotic behavior of \(\deg(R)\). For the algebra \(\mathbb{C}[V_d]^{\mathrm{SL}_2}\) of \(\mathrm{SL}_2\)-invariants of binary forms of degree \(d\) similar calculations were done by \textit{T. A. Springer} [Indag. Math. 42, 339--345 (1980; Zbl 0449.22017)].
