This paper is concerned with the question of unicity of types on maximal compact subgroups for supercuspidal representations of \(\text{SL}_2\) over a nonarchimedean local field \(F\) of odd residual characteristic. The main problem in the theory of types is finding a family of irreducible representation \(\lambda\) of a compact open subgroup \(J\) of a \(p\)-adic group \(\mathcal G\) in such a way that the presence of \(\lambda\) in the restriction to \(J\) of an irreducible representation \(\pi\) of \(\mathcal G\) allows one to identify \(\pi\). In this paper the author introduces the notion of an archtype as the \(\text{SL}_2\)-conjugacy class of a typical representation of a maximal compact subgroup, and proves that any archtype in \(\text{SL}_2\) occurs as a restriction of one in \(\text{GL}_2\). This result shows that any archtype can be induced from a Bushnell-Kutzko type. Given a supercuspidal representation \(\pi\) of \(\text{SL}_2 (F)\), the author provides an additional description of the number of archtypes admitted by \(\pi\). He also describes a relation between archtypes of \(\text{GL}_2\) and \(\text{SL}_2\) in terms of \(L\)-packets and establishes an inertial Langlands correspondence for \(\text{SL}_2\).
