The author proves the Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev fractional integration theorem [see \textit{E. M. Stein}, Singular integrals and differentiability properties of functions, Princeton (1970; Zbl 0281.44003), Chapter V, theorem 1] and related results for functions in \(L^ p\) when \(p>1\) by direct calculations with a sort of their rearrangements. (The proof in the cited book uses Marcinkiewicz interpolation theorem).
