The author presents an elegant reformulation of the Einstein-Cartan- Sciama-Kibble theory with a Dirac spinor by using differential forms involving values in exterior vector bundles associated with a fixed principal SL(2,\({\mathbb{C}})\) bundle over a 4-dimensional manifold. This allows tetrad fields to be represented as soldering forms, and the consequences of such a representation are investigated. Contents include: an introduction; a spinorial framework for a variational principle of the Palatini type; Clifford-algebraic constructions; Dirac fields; the Einstein-Dirac field equations; the initial-value problem; and an appendix on the hyperbolicity of the system of evolution equations.
