This note has been originated from a remark of \textit{B. Banaschewski} [Can. Math. Bull. 7, No.1, 1-22 (1964; Zbl 0121.173)] about those spaces which are a strict extension of any of their dense subspacs (s.e. spaces): he pointed out that any Hausdorff space satisfying the first axiom of countability enjoying the property above, is semiregular but he claimed he did not know what happened in the absence of the countability condition. In the first section it is proved that any non-semiregular Hausdorff space with a certain property can not be a s.e. space. This result, which restricts the class of non-semiregular \(non\)-N\({}_ 1\) spaces that are s.e. (if any), is illustrated by examples. The second section is devoted to the study of the behaviour of semiregularity in the passage from a topology \(\tau\) on a set E to topologies on E covered (in lattice sense) by \(\tau\). A description of the semiregularizations of such topologies is given. A link between this section and the first one is a semiregular \(non\)-N\({}_ 1\) Hausdorff spaces.
