Let \(z=\phi (x,y)\) be a surface over the rectangle \(\Omega =[a_ 1,b_ 1]\times [a_ 2,b_ 2]\) with non-zero Gaussian curvature. Let W be a non-singular \(3\times 3\) matrix. Then the sequence \(\{(x,y,\phi (x,y))W^ j\}\) \((j=1,2,...)\) (where \(\{\) \(\}\) denotes the fractional in \({\mathbb{R}}^ 3)\) is uniformly distributed for almost all (x,y)\(\in \Omega\) provided that the characteristic polynomial of W (a) has simple real roots and is irreducible over \({\mathbb{Q}}\) or (b) has non-integer roots while the function \(\phi\) possesses bounded mixed third order partial derivatives on \(\Omega\). The (much more simple) case of a curve \(z=\phi (x)\) was treated earlier by the author [Aktual'nye Probl. Analit. Teor. Chisel 1974, 138-167 (1974; Zbl 0336.10047)].
