The paper is devoted to the creating of new frequency stability and instability criteria for discrete autonomous systems with a single nonlinearity. The stationary set may be nontrivial. The systems are described by the transfer function W(s) and the nonlinearity \(\phi\) (\(\sigma)\) with the Lipschitz condition \(\Delta\) \(\phi\) /\(\Delta\) \(\sigma\in [0,\mu]\). The method of extending the state space allows to obtain new general frequency domain criteria which reduce the given systems to several algebraic and grafical forms. For example: Suppose that \(Re\{(1+i f(\omega))(W(i\omega)+\mu^{-1})\}>0\) for all real \(\omega >0\), where arctg f(z) is analytical in right half plane and real for real positive z. Then the stationary set of the system is stable (unstable) in the large if the system with \(\phi (\sigma)=\epsilon \sigma\) is stable (respectively unstable) for some \(\epsilon\in (0,\mu)\). This work generalizes the results of Tsipkin, Narendra, O'Shea, Jury and some other criteria.
