Polynomautomorphismen von Gruppen. (Polynomial automorphisms of groups) (Q910844)

The group Paut G of automorphisms of a finite group G, which have polynomial form \(x\mapsto g_ 1xg_ 1^{-1}...g_ rxg_ r^{-1}\) \((g_ i\in G)\), is considered. At first the question is studied under which conditions Aut G\(=Paut G\) holds. For semisimple groups a complete answer is derived. Furthermore the problem is investigated, whether Paut G/Inn G is always solvable as is true in all known cases (solvable, simple groups). By constructing a special semisimple group this assertion is proved to be wrong.
