The author considers the problem to find one-parameter families \(h(\lambda): Y\times I\to SA(2),\) \(I\subset R\) a segment, of smooth maps of a manifold Y into the special affine group of the plane, for which the linear hull of the corresponding forms \(h(\lambda)^*\omega\), \(\omega\) the structure form of SA(2), in the space of all smooth forms on Y with values in the Lie algebra of SA(2) has finite dimension \(p+1\). He describes several solutions and discusses a certain analogy with solitons. For his considerations he uses the structure equations of SA(2) and applies results of \textit{A. M. Vasil'ev} [Theory of differential- geometric structures (Moskva 1987; Zbl 0656.53001)].
