A higher-dimensional generalization of Yang-Mills gauge field theory was suggested by \textit{D. H. Tchrakian} [J. Math. Phys. 21, 166-169 (1980; Zbl 0454.58022)]. For the 8-dimensional case with \(G=SO(8)\), the action density of this theory is represented by the trace of a 4-tensor that is defined in terms of curvature 2-forms associated with so(8). This model becomes a 7-dimensional generalized Yang-Mills-Higgs (YMH) theory if it is assumed that the gauge fields are independent of the coordinate \(x_ 8\) and if a Higgs field \(A_ 8\) is introduced (in the adjoint representation of SO(8)). In this paper it is shown that there exists a finite action solution for the YMH equations which is based on a certain ansatz concerning spherical symmetry. This solution is topologically non- trivial.
