The authors extend to characteristic \(p>0\) some results on a projective non singular surface S, well known in characteristic 0. More precisely, if K is the canonical bundle and L is a very ample line bundle, then: - \((K\otimes L)^ 2\) is spanned by global sections everywhere (except when either S is a quadric or a scroll or when L is either O(1) or O(2) over the projective plane); - If (S,L) is neither a Del Pezzo surface nor a conic bundle, then, if \((K\otimes L)^ 2\) is semiample, the map f: \(S\mapsto {\mathbb{P}}^ N\) (given by the sections \(\Gamma (K\otimes L)^ 2)\) has a two dimensional image and separates pairs of points (not on some special line); - under the above exceptions (S a quadric,...), if \(h^ 0(L)\geq 6\) and L.L\(\geq 9\), then the map s, such that \(f=s\circ r\) is the Stein factorization, is an embedding. For their purposes the authors adapt to characteristic p a Bertini type and a Kodaira vanishing theorem.
