If G is a topological group then \({\mathcal Z}(G)\) denotes the space of all its closed subgroups with the Vietoris topology. If G is an infinite locally compact topological group, then c(G)\(\leq c({\mathcal Z}(G))\leq 2^{c(G)}\), where c(G) is the cellularity of G. If, in addition, any compact subset of G is contained in a compact subgroup, then \(c(G)=c({\mathcal Z}(G))\). When G is a compact group of weight \(\leq \omega_ 1\), then \({\mathcal Z}(G)\) is a Dugundji space.
