The subnormalizer of a subgroup U in G consists of all elements x for which U is subnormal in \(<x,U>\). In general this is only a subset and not a subgroup of G. The author considers those finite groups in which all subnormalizers of subgroups are subgroups, and calls them sn-groups. Likewise G is an sn(p)-group if the statement is true for all p- subgroups. A group is an sn-group if and only if it is an sn(p)-group for all p dividing the order (Theorem 1.11). For a first assessment it suffices therefore to consider sn(p)-groups. The author exhibits sufficient conditions for a group to be an sn(p)-group and exhibits all simple sn(p)-groups (Lemma 1.15, Theorem 2.1). Also he shows that the classes of sn-groups (sn(p)-groups) and of E-groups \((E_ p\)-groups) in the sense of \textit{T. A. Peng} [J. Algebra 11, 319-330 (1969; Zbl 0167.292)] coincide. A bound for the Fitting length of soluble sn-groups and in general the generalized Fitting length is provided.
