Let X be a Banach space and \(B^*\) the closed unit ball in \(X^*\). If ext \(B^*\) is the union of an increasing sequence of non-norming sets, then \(C\supset c_ 0\) (isomorphically). If X is separable and \(X\supset c_ 0\), then X can be renormed in such a way that ext \(B^*\) is the union of an increasing sequence of non-norming (even non-total) sets. If \(X\not\supset c_ 0\) and \((x_ n)\) is a sequence in X which is bounded at each point of ext \(B^*\), then \((x_ n)\) is bounded. If X is separable and \(X\supset c_ 0\), then X can be renormed in such a way that, for some unbounded sequence \((x_ n)\) in X, each \(f\in ext B^*\) is bounded on \((x_ n).\) The other results concern Sidon sets in C[a,b] and the existence of the Gelfand integral.
