Let \(\Gamma\) be a Kleinian group with a simply connected invariant component \(\Delta\). Every loxodromic element \(A\in \Gamma\) induces a linear functional \(L_ A\) on the Banach space of cusp forms for \(\Gamma\) defined on \(\Delta\). Also, a loxodromic element \(B\in \Gamma\) defines a cusp form \(\phi_ B\) on the ordinary set of \(\Gamma\). We study the special case where \(\Gamma\) is a finite generated quasi-Fuchsian group of the first kind. In general, the period \(L_ A(\phi_ B)\) may depend on the choice of component of the ordinary set of \(\Gamma\) used to define \(L_ A\). We show that \(L_ A(\phi_ A)\) is independent of the component used. We obtain some applications of this fact to the problem of separating elements of \(\Gamma\) by Eichler cohomology classes and to the study of geodesic length functions on Teichmüller spaces.
