The authors are concerned with the existence of solutions to elliptic systems of the form \(-\Delta u_ i=f_ i(u)\), \(i=1,...,m\), \(u=(u_ 1,...,u_ m)\), in a bounded domain \(\Omega \subset {\mathbb{R}}^ n\) with Dirichlet boundary conditions \(u_ i=a_ i\). Special attention is given to find solutions with nonnegative components \(u_ i\) provided that \(a_ i\geq 0\), \(i=1,...,m\). Their method is based on the maximum principle applied to a Lyapunov function \(H=H(u_ 1,...,u_ m)\). Some interesting examples are discussed.
