Let E be a closed set in the circle T. The algebra A(E) is the set of restrictions to E of absolutely convergent Fourier series. The tilde algebra is defined so that its unit ball is the closure, in C(E), of the unit ball of A(E). In this paper, a closed set E is constructed so that its tilde algebra is an inseparable Banach space but its maximal ideal space is E.
