Let M be a compact symplectic manifold. \textit{V. I. Arnol'd} conjectured around 1960's [C. R. Acad. Sci., Paris 261, 3719-3722 (1965; Zbl 0134.423)] that a symplectic diffeomorphism of M should have at least as many fixed points as the critical points of a smooth function on M. The conjecture was proved by \textit{C. C. Conley} and \textit{E. Zehnder} [Invent. Math. 73, 33-49 (1983; Zbl 0516.58017)] for \(T^{2n}\) with the standard structure and by \textit{B. Fortune} [Invent. Math. 81, 29-46 (1985; Zbl 0547.58015)] for \({\mathbb{C}}P^ k\) with the standard structure, by using the variational approach. In the paper under review, the author studies Arnold's conjecture on \(T^{2n}\times {\mathbb{C}}P^ k\) with the product structure, by combining the Conley-Zehnder and Fortune's methods. A weaker theorem is proved, the conjecture may not be true in its full generality.
