The authors investigate the value of the critical exponent \(p^*\) for the equation: \[ \partial u/\partial t-\Delta u=u^ p\text{ in } D\times (0,T), \] where D is a cone with vertex at the origin together with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary condition on the lateral surface \(\partial D\times (0,T)\). They derive the value \(p^*\) of p such that for \(1<p<p^*\) no positive (almost regular) global solution exists and for \(p>p^*\) positive global solution exists. The existence part for \(p>p^*\) uses the techniques of supersolutions.
