For an artinian local ring (A,\({\mathfrak m})\), the Dilworth number d(A) and the Sperner number s(A) are defined as follows: \(d(A)=\max \{\mu (I)|\;I\) ideal of \(A\},\) \(s(A)=\max\{\mu({\mathfrak m}^ i)|\) \(i=0,1,...\}.\) A is said to have the Sperner property if \(d(A)=s(A)\). (\(\mu\) denotes the minimal number of generators.) If A is a Gorenstein ring, then A can be expressed as \(A=B/0:f\) where B is a monomial complete intersection. The main result is: There is a non- empty Zariski open set \(V_ d\) in the non-zero d-th graded piece of the form ring of B for each d such that if the initial form of f is in \(V_ d\) for some d then A has the Sperner property. The author proves the main theorem in a more precise and strong form.
