On linear groups (Q915864)

The author gives a new proof of C. Jordan's theorem. Also included are results on finite subgroups G of GL(n,\({\mathbb{C}})\); e.g. if certain assumptions are made on the eigenvalues of the elements x and y in G, then x and y commute; in addition, if an element x in G is of order \(p^ m\) and under some conditions for the eigenvalues of x and for p, all conjugates of x in G generate an Abelian subgroup of G.
