The author develops the scattering theory for the operator H defined in \(L_ 2(\Omega)\), \(\Omega \subset {\mathbb{R}}^ m\), by the expression \(-\sum \partial /\partial x_ i(a_{ij}(x)\partial /\partial x_ j),\quad x\in \Omega,\) and some selfadjoint boundary conditions on \(\partial \Omega\) with positive defined \(a_{ij}(x)\), \(x\in {\bar \Omega}\), such that \(a-1=O(| x|^{-\tau})\), \(\tau >0\). The domain \(\Omega\) with a noncompact boundary \(\partial \Omega\) (of \(C^ 2\) class) is such that if \(\nu_ x\), \(x\in \partial \Omega\), is the outer normal, \(G_{(r)}=\{\omega \in S^{m-1}:\exists r>0\), \(x=\omega r\in \Omega \}\), \(G_{\Omega}=\cup_{2}G(r)\) and \(V_{\Omega}=\{x\in {\mathbb{R}}^ m\setminus \{0\}:\) \(x=\omega r\), \(\omega \in G_{\Omega}\}\) then \(x\nu_ x\leq 0\), \(dist\{x,\partial V_{\Omega}\}=O(| x|^{\gamma})\), \(x\in \partial \Omega\), \(0<\gamma <1\). The author denotes a class of these domains by \(o_{\gamma}.\) He introduces condition (\(\Delta\),\(\alpha\)): if \(0<\alpha <1\), \(s\in {\mathbb{R}}\), \(u_ z=(H-z)^{-1}g\), \(g\in {\mathcal G}\), where \({\mathcal G}\) is some Banach space, \(C^{\infty}_ 0(\Omega)\subset {\mathcal G}\subset L^ 2(\Omega)\), \(| |\) is respective norm, \(v_ z=e^{ikz}u_ z\), \(z=k^ 2\pm i\epsilon\), \(k^ 2\equiv \lambda \in \Delta\), \(\epsilon\in [0,1]\) and \(\| \cdot \|_{\alpha}\) denotes the Sobolev norm, then \(\| v_ z\|^ 2_{\alpha}+\epsilon \| \nabla v_ z\|_{1+\alpha}\leq C| g|\), where C is independent of \(\lambda\in \Delta\), and \(v_ z\) has a limit in \(\hat W^ 1_ 2\) for \(z\to \lambda \pm 0.\) By using some operator ideas, extending known Kato-Lavine theorem author proves the existence and the isometry of wave operators for the pair - \(\Delta\) in \(L^ 2({\mathbb{R}}^ m)\) and H in \(L^ 2(\Omega)\) with \(\Omega \in O_{\gamma}\), under condition (\(\Delta\),\(\alpha\)), where \(0<\alpha\) for \(0<\gamma \leq 1/2\), \(2\gamma -1<\alpha\) for \(1/2\leq \gamma <1\) or \(1/2<\alpha\) for \(0<\gamma \leq 1/2\), \(\gamma <\alpha\) for \(1/2\leq \gamma <1\). Besides the author imposes some technical conditions, which depend on the boundary condition. The applications of this and several related results for the Dirichlet and the third boundary conditions and for the generalized wave equation are given.
